Pooja Meri Jaan Storyline and Plot Overview

Quick Answer: When a seemingly innocent young woman becomes the target of an anonymous, hyper-obsessive stalker who knows every detail of her private life, her existence spirals into paranoia. As a seasoned female police investigator delves into the case, a horrifying web of digital surveillance, blackmail, and buried family secrets is laid bare.

Pooja Meri Jaan centers on Pooja, portrayed with heartbreaking vulnerability by Mrunal Thakur, an independent urban professional whose peaceful life begins unraveling when mysterious messages, surveillance photographs, and threatening voicemails start invading her phone.

The invisible stalker exhibits terrifying technological capability, predicting her movements and sabotaging her closest relationships. In desperation, Pooja turns to the police, where Inspector Sana, played with steely resolve by Huma Qureshi, takes charge of the investigation.

Navjot Gulati’s screenplay meticulously builds claustrophobic dread, highlighting how vulnerable modern individuals are in an era of geolocation tagging, smart home appliances, and cloud photo storage. As Sana investigates Pooja’s circle of acquaintances, everyone, from well-meaning suitors to protective family members, becomes a viable suspect.

The narrative twists relentlessly through unexpected confrontations and psychological misdirections, culminating in a shocking revelation that challenges conventional assumptions about victimhood, revenge, and culpability.

Vikram Singh Chauhan and the supporting cast provide solid performances that reflect the realistic interpersonal dynamics of modern urban society.

Direction, Screenplay and Technical Execution

Quick Answer: Navjot Gulati directs with focused intensity, using tight interior framing, cold blue color grades, and ambient sound effects to generate pervasive tension. The screenplay keeps audiences guessing while addressing serious themes of cyberstalking and personal security.

Director Navjot Gulati exhibits sharp narrative economy, keeping the 112-minute runtime lean, urgent, and devoid of superfluous song breaks or unnecessary subplots. Gulati treats the mystery with procedural seriousness.

Cinematographer Chetan Vohra utilizes low-key lighting, shallow depth of field, and phone-screen reflections to visually emphasize Pooja’s feelings of entrapment and surveillance.

The editing by Monisha R. Baldawa creates rapid cross-cutting between cyber tracking sequences and real-time physical pursuits, maintaining a rapid narrative pulse.

The background score utilizes unsettling electronic synth tones and distorted ambient frequencies to mimic the auditory discomfort of continuous surveillance.
